Setting Up Your GrandStream ATA-286 With FaktorTel



The GrandStream ATA-286 is our device of choice at FaktorTel because of it's solid design and ease of use. Setting up this device is quite easy and provides great voice quality. Please follow the graphical steps below to quickly and easily setup your Grandstrem.

Step 1

The first thing you will need to do is to find out the address of your GrandStream device. Assuming you have plugged your grandstream in this is quite easy to do.

Simply press the button on your grandstream device and wait for the voice prompt to ask you for a menu option. Press 02 (zero two) on your device and listen. The voice will tell you the I.P. address of your grandstream. Such as "zero,one,zero ,zero,zero,zero, zero,two,five" Whenever there is a zero infront of a number drop it. So the I.P. address here for this device would be: 10.0.0.25. Type this into your browser as: http://10.0.0.25.

Step 2

You should now be presented with a menu asking you for a password. For all grandstream devices where it has not been changed the password will be "admin" (without the quotes). The menu will look similar to the picture below. Type the password in where the red circle on our picture indicates and then press the login button.



Step 3

Now you should be presented with a menu which looks like the picture below. As this menu is quite long we have broken it up into several steps. The picture below indicates all the fields you need to change with a RED circle around the option. We will explain the setup below each picture:



There are 3 items in this picture you need to change on your settings. They are indicated in the picture in red.

  • SIP SERVER: Please make sure this value is set to: sip.faktortel.com.au

  • SIP User ID: Please make sure this value is set to the number supplied when you got your faktortel account.

  • Authenticate ID: Please make sure this value is set to the number supplied when you got your faktortel account.

  • Authenticate Password: Please enter the password provided to you when you signed up with FaktorTel.



Step 4

This is a continuance of the last step.The picture below indicates all the fields you need to change with a RED circle around the option.

  • Advanced Options (The Big Circle):Make sure your settings in the drop down boxes are set the same as the ones in the picture.

  • Silence Suppression: Make sure this option is off if it is on you will find your voice is garbled.



Step 5

This is a continuance of the last step.The picture below indicates all the fields you need to change with a RED circle around the option.

  • Nat Traversal: Please turn this iten on and place "stun1.faktortel.com.au" (without the quotes) in the box beside the option.

  • TFTP Server: Please set this to "4" in the first box, "3" in the second box, "153" in the third box, "50" in the fourth box.



Step 6 - Final Step

This is the final step. As indicated in the picture below, press the buttons in this order:

First: Press the "Update" Button. Second: Press the "Reboot" Button.



Congratulations! Your device should now be setup on the FaktorTel Network. Please allow your device about 60 seconds to connect after rebooting and another 5 minutes if the device is brand new before attempting to make your first call.
