If you are considering signing up for FaktorTel wholesale it is important you know how
it works. The following examples will show you how you can use FaktorTel wholesale call
and line rates in your business. Additionally you may even use FaktorTel wholesale to
back-end your own VSP or even run your own VSP through our hosted PBX options whilst you
grow.
To connect to FaktorTel wholesale you can use either:
1. An IP PBX like Asterisk (www.asterisk.org) OR you can use other PBX's such as Cisco Call manager or IP enabled Siemens units along with other brands which support the SIP or IAX protocols.
2. Multiple SIP phones. - You can connect 1 or more SIP phones to your wholesale connection directly.
When a call is made how does it get to the right person?
When a call is made from your PBX or phone connected to FaktorTel wholesale the call will
be passed to FaktorTel, FaktorTel will then send your call to the closest point of presence
we have to the area you are calling and then pass that call to Telstra, Optus or one of our
other providers where the call will then be sent to the house or premesis you are calling.
All of this happens in about 1 second or less and is a pretty seemless process. All you have
to do is place the call and FaktorTel takes care of the rest.
What if I don't have an IP PBX but need FaktorTel Wholesale?
If you have a business and require an IP PBX or you would like to run your own VSP (VOIP/Voice Service Provider)
then we also have a solution for you. We are able to suggest one of our Hosted Partners to assist you in setting up your own VSP, using our own billing system, vspPanel.
How am I billed for FaktorTel Wholesale?
FaktorTel has a Post-Paid model which allows you to be billed for calls on your Faktortel
Wholesale account at the start of each calendar month (around the 5th). We currently only have
provision for billing via Credit Card however arrangements for large accounts can be made where
payments by direct deposit are easier.
Why do I need to purchase Lines?
FaktorTel Wholesale operates much like most large-scale telecommunications carriers. The idea behind
purchasing lines from FaktorTel Wholesale is that you then fill those lines with calls.
E.g. If you purchase 10 lines you will be able to make 10 simultaneous calls from your equipment
through to normal phones (the PSTN). This doesn't necessarily mean you can only have 10 handsets or
10 customers on your VSP. What this means is that 10 handsets or customers can only make calls at
the same time. Generally speaking with 10 lines you should be able to support upto approximately
200 residential VSP customers or about 40 business handsets.

sent through the FaktorTel network and out of the PRI termination points we have physically sitting
